About Us
Making landscapes living legacies
Our roots

Living Lands was founded to drive positive change in agricultural landscapes through collective effort.

A group of young students, captivated by the Baviaanskloof and witnessing its degraded landscape’s impact on people and nature, set out to co-create a model for sustainable living. Their idealism soon met reality – ideas from the Global North and knowledge sharing alone weren’t enough. True change required local knowledge, deep relationships, and tangible solutions.

Living Lands still embodies this pioneering spirit – unafraid to find new ways to tackle complex challenges, with the grit that comes from living and working on the land, learning from both failures and successes. Because restoring landscapes is an investment that, given time, yields real returns.
